Several different definition exist for ‘Downtown’ but the technical definition is the one used by the City to create the ‘Downtown Master Plan.’ The DTMP combines parts of Church Hill, Shockoe Slip and Bottom, Rockett’s Landing (in Henrico), Monroe Ward, Industrial Manchester, CBD, Jackson Ward and Oregon Hill into one overall district in an attempt to stimulate development and quicken the process of re-zoning logical and quality projects. The housing stock within these neighborhoods is either single family attached row homes, new(er) high-rise condo or adaptive re-use warehouse projects converted to living spaces.
